Why 19 Neobanks Are Waiting for Nora

2 Problems Nora Is Solving: Local Stablecoin Scale and Primary Account Ownership in Neobanks

There’s a reason 19 neobanks are currently waiting for Nora.

We are building something much more important for Brazil: the missing product that helps onchain neobanks compete for the primary account.

And in Brazil, that changes everything.

The biggest mistake people make about stablecoins in LATAM

For years, the dominant narrative has been:

“Latin Americans use crypto to escape inflation and run to the dollar.”

That story is real in some countries, for some users.

But it is not the full picture, and in Brazil, it is often the wrong starting point.

Brazilian users, especially the ones neobanks actually want to win, do not want to abandon the Real.

They earn in BRL.
They spend in BRL.
They save in BRL.

If you want to build a real neobank in Brazil, you cannot assume the user’s goal is to dollarize their entire financial life.

You need to make BRL itself more useful, more profitable, and more competitive.

That is exactly what Nora is building.

Brazil’s macro moment is strengthening the BRL thesis

Brazil is not just “another emerging market” in the current global environment.

As trade tensions reshape supply chains and global commerce, Brazil is increasingly positioned to benefit from both sides: strategic minerals and commodities on one end, and agricultural exports (especially soy) on the other. In practical terms, Brazil can gain market share in global markets as trade flows rebalance.

That matters more than people think.

Because when a country gains relevance in global trade, confidence in its local financial system and local currency products tends to strengthen.

And if Brazil’s economic relevance is growing, then the demand for better BRL-native financial products also grows.

So the opportunity is not only “help Brazilians access dollars.”

The bigger opportunity is: help Brazilians and Brazilian neobanks upgrade their relationship with the Real.

A signal the market is already sending

One of the best observations I’ve seen recently came from @sceniuslatam about @arq_finance.

He pointed out something important: most commentary about stablecoins in LATAM is still trapped in the old image of “poor Latinos using crypto to survive inflation.”

But ARQ is targeting the opposite:
higher-income, globally mobile Latin Americans... founders, executives, remote workers, and professionals managing money across borders, banks, and currencies.

That framing matters because it shows where the market is going.

LATAM is not only producing demand for remittances or dollar access.
It is also exporting a new model of lite private banking for a younger, more global, more digital-native generation.

And this is exactly where many neobanks in Brazil are waking up.

They don’t just want to compete with @Wise and @WesternUnion.
They want to become the primary account.

They want to compete with Nubank, Revolut, and local incumbents for where users actually keep their money, build savings habits, and trust their financial life.

Why 19 neobanks are waiting for Nora

Because they understand that distribution alone is not enough anymore.

A nice app is not enough.
A global card is not enough.
A USD wallet is not enough.
A “crypto” label is not enough.

To win in Brazil, neobanks need a BRL product stack that is:

  • competitive with the real world
  • profitable for the neobank
  • simple for the user
  • composable for future expansion

That is the gap @norafinancexyz fills.

We are helping onchain neobanks transform how they relate to customers in Brazil by turning BRL from a passive balance into a productive financial asset.

The yield gap is real, and most products still don’t solve it

Today, many products in the market are basically Brazilian treasury wrappers. (currently at 15% APY).

They usually deliver something around 12% to 13.7%.

This is not attractive.

At Nora, our architecture can reach 18%-24% APY because we have the Brazilian Real Stablecoin as a core layer that allows us to generate treasury incentives natively within the system.

That’s the key difference.

The yield is not coming from financial engineering theater.
It comes from the structural advantage of a BRL-native onchain stack designed from day one to align stablecoin infrastructure, treasury incentives, and neobank distribution.

So we are not just packaging yield.
We are building a competitive BRL financial layer that can actually compete with the best local alternatives while remaining globally composable.

Beyond yield: making BRL a productive asset for Neo Finance

Yield is just the first wedge.

The larger vision is turning BRL into a productive asset that can be used across:

  • money markets
  • lending
  • loans
  • AMMs
  • hedging
  • FX Perps
  • Prediction Markets

and more.

This is the shift that matters.

It is how onchain neobanks stop being “stablecoin fintechs” and start becoming real Neo Finance institutions.

Institutions that can offer:

  • local currency yield
  • local currency credit
  • local currency financial products

while still benefiting from global onchain rails, liquidity, and programmability.

(Local here means a US$2,29 Trillion economy)

The real battle: primary account ownership

The neobanks waiting for Nora are not waiting for a feature.

They are waiting for a way to become the place where Brazilian users actually keep their money.

That is the real battle.

Not just access to dollars, payments, or better UX to buy crypto.

Primary account ownership.

And the teams that understand this early will have a massive advantage.

Because the future of onchain banking in LATAM is not about replacing local currencies.

It is about upgrading them.

Nora is building that upgrade for BRL.

And that is why 19 neobanks are waiting for our product.

For investors, if you’re tracking the next wave of stablecoin infrastructure beyond the “USD in LATAM” narrative, we’re currently running Nora’s seed round and speaking with partners who understand local-currency dominance, yield rails, and neobank distribution.

For neobanks, if you’re building to truly win the Brazilian market, not just add a crypto feature, and want to compete for the primary account with a BRL-native product stack, let’s talk.
